Myspace account helps crack 2005 cold case

Myspace.com helped Kansas City Police crack a cold case - the first homicide of 2005. Just minutes into Jan. 1, 2005 someone gunned down Jeffery Dunham outside the Empire Room. Tuesday, Jackson County Prosecutor Mike Sanders charged Rodney E. Carter, 26, with second degree murder. He is being held on $250,000 bond.

One tip came from a Myspace page created by community activist Alonzo Washington.

"I can go and talk to Jeff now and tell him that his death will be vindicated," said Dunham's mother, Sharon Stiles.

Washington is planning a vigil to be held Wednesday night at the site of Dunham's murder. He is hoping families of other murder victims will attend.
