Acid attack after lover learns he's married


In this case, an army sergeant was seriously injured after he was allegedly splashed with acid by his live-in girlfriend after she found out that he was already married.

Sgt Shahril Hashim, 41, has been warded at the Sarawak General Hospital for severe burns on his face and upper body, reported The New Straits Times.

The incident allegedly occurred about 2.30am on Tuesday at Sgt Shahril's rented house in Kampung Haji Baki.

According to a report lodged by Sgt Shahril's colleagues, the girlfriend had been living with him for a few months before the incident.

According to the paper's police sources, when they first met, Kuantan-born Sgt Shahril had told the woman that he was a bachelor.

The woman was apparently very persistent over the future of their relationship, but Sgt Shahril kept giving her excuses on the question of marriage.
