After Dozens Of Cats Removed, Woman Found Dead In Box
Police said an elderly woman's body was found in a plastic box in her condemned townhouse in Delaware.
The townhouse had been condemned because dozens of ill cats were living there.
Dover police Capt. Lester Boney said 84-year-old Mary Haas' body was found in a container in an upstairs bedroom and has been turned over to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
Police are trying to find her daughters, Pamela Haas, 48, and Candy Haas, 43, for questioning. They said they may be driving a four-door silver 1995 Buick LeSabre with Delaware registration.
Two weeks ago, the city gave daughter Pamela Haas a week to clean the house -- after complaints from the neighbors about odor. City officials returned to the home Thursday with police, SPCA animal control officers and workers from the state Department of Health and Social Services. City officials removed more than 100 cats and three dogs from the house. The house was condemned, and Pamela Haas was taken to a shelter.
