Russian Grandpa Jailed for Robbing Grandson’s Piggy-Bank
A Russian court has sentenced a man to three years in jail for robbing his grandson’s piggy-bank. The money, originally saved to buy a big fluffy toy, was spent on vodka instead.
The grandfather, aged 40, was living with his wife, son, daughter, son-in-law and one-year-old grandson in a small two-room apartment in Moscow, the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily reports.
Relatives often had to hide money from the head of the family, otherwise it would be spent on vodka. Unfortunately, they had not thought of hiding the piggy-bank that stood on the shelf above the baby’s bed, in which the young parents kept 3,000 rubles — about $100 — saved for a huge, fluffy toy.
As it so happened, at a time when most of the family members were out, the grandfather emptied the child’s piggy-bank. The grandson witnessed him doing this, and informed his parents.
