Principal fired for sexual assault



A Gordon's Bay principal has been fired by the provincial Education Department for sexually assaulting a Grade 7 pupil. The principal is said to have assaulted the pupil by "touching her breasts, buttocks and vagina", according to a record of a disciplinary appeal hearing by the Western Cape Education Department.Education MEC Cameron Dugmore has confirmed the incident. "This conduct is a violation of the Employment of Education Act," Dugmore said. "We cannot and never will tolerate this behaviour from any educator or official. "The report comes less than a week since the Human Rights Council's public hearings on the right to basic education heard that some teachers were sexually harassing pupils.
