Accused killer slept next to woman's body

Murder accused Donovan van Wyk spent the night next to his girlfriend's cold body after he could not revive her after "a scuffle".

Van Wyk, 30, told the Cape High Court on Wednesday that he started to shiver when he realised that Letitcia Koopman, 33, was not moving.

When he looked at the clock and realised that her sister was due to return home from work, he pulled Koopman's body into their bedroom.

Van Wyk was testifying after the State closed its case against him and alleged accomplice Mark Alexander, 27, on Tuesday. They are accused of murdering Koopman on March 31, 2004, and then stealing her belongings to sell them.
